The 4.28 meters high and 9.6 tons heavy Olympic bell was cast on August 14, 1935 in Bochum and was hoisted into the tower during a solemn and propagandistic transfer on May 11, 1936. The clock was decorated with the Olympic Rings, the Reichsadler and the Brandenburg Gate.
